| Jewelry, as an art form, has the power to create moods, provoke opinions and produce reactions. "Jewelry can influence the way you feel, it can say and mean something different to every wearer". This is the design philosophy jewelry designer Nancy Nelson follows in creating and developing her own unique collection of jewelry. Her goal is to create an interesting piece of jewelry that exhibits a balanced sense of design in its composition. In addition, the jewelry must be comfortable to wear, have an appropriate weight, as well as exceptional craftsmanship. When the mood strikes to create, Nancy finds inspiration in nature, fashion, architecture, memories and life experiences. Her style links modern with traditional whenever possible. Her designs are a delicate blend of rustic beauty and elegance. Nancy uses various metals, semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls to create her pieces. Ever since childhood Nancy has been fascinated with art and jewelry. Her inherent need to create jewelry urged her to take a metalsmithing class in college, where she made her first sterling silver ring. This class inspired her to continue to take more metalsmithing classes where she learned the fundamentals of traditional jewelry making and began developing her own style. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Towson University in Industrial Design, Nancy started her career in the professional world while continuing to pursue her passion of designing jewelry as a hobby. After receiving numerous compliments on her jewelry, Nancy decided to pursue her dream of creating jewelry as her career in 2006. While Nancy is determined to grow her business, she stays committed to her first true passion of being a wife and a mother. |
